What do Green Product Labels Mean?

Biodegradable (adjective) able to decay naturally and in a way that is not harmful.

Eco-friendly (adjective) designed to have little or no damaging effect on the environment.

Eco-warrior (noun) a person who argues against and tries to stop activities that damage the environment.

Enzyme (noun) any of a group of chemical substances that are produced by living cells and cause particular chemical reactions to happen while not being changed themselves.

Green (adjective - political) relating to the protection of the environment.

Natural (adjective) as found in nature and not involving anything made or done by people. Not artificial.

Organic (adjective) not using artificial chemicals in the growing of plants and animals for food and other products.

Probiotic (adjective) containing or relating to bacteria that may help keep you healthy.

Sustainable (adjective - environment) causing little or no damage to the environment and therefore able to continue for a long time.

Zero Waste (noun) the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse and recovery of products, packaging and materials without burning and with no discharges to land, water or air that threaten the environment or human health.
