Is your Disinfectant Legal?

With the proliferation of disinfectants in the marketplace as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, one might be lulled into a false sense of security when using one's chosen product by assuming it is as effective as its advertising claims it to be.

Make sure that the disinfectant you have chosen carries a valid registration with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS).

NRCS registration is granted when a disinfectant or detergent formuIation meets the compulsory specification standards as laid down by the South African government. In other words, it performs as claimed.

Note that although there are currently no regulations relating to hand sanitisers, local manufacturers may comply, voluntarily, with certain South Africa National Standards (SANS). Alternatively choose hand sanitisers which comply with the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations.
